Focuses of research & scientific skills
- Design of materials and the optimization of their properties by the controlled modulation of their structure (polyaromatic molecules towards nanoribbons and nanobagues of carbon, molecular magnets, magnetic molecules bi- or tri-stable towards switchable magnets, liquid crystals and gels for organic optoelectronics and magnetism, ...)
- Development of innovative pathways for the solubilization, dispersion and functionalization of CNTs and graphene. (Solutions, dispersions, nanocomposites, fibers and polymers, organic electronics, MEMS, electrochemistry and biomaterials, ...)
- Creation of innovative functional materials by self-assembly (Integrative Chemistry, Colloidal Molecules and Scattered Particles, Interfaces and Emulsions, Interface and Solution Formulation, Photonics, Nanophotonics and Plasmonics, Acoustic and Electromagnetic Metamaterials, ...)
- Biological issues at the interface with soft matter and materials to respond to the control of living systems and new therapeutic developments. (Analytical chemistry, bioelectrochemistry, enzymology, screening, microfluidics and high resolution imaging, ...)
- Studies in principle in the field of soft matter (Structure of complex systems, diffusion and dynamics of anisotropic objects, dynamics of soft matter systems out of equilibrium, transformation of soft matter via weak interactions, ...)
Specific equipment, resources and techniques
The CRPP has a characterization platform, particularly in the area of soft matter. It consists of 5 technical platforms:
- Diffusion of radiation: Numerous equipment allowing to characterize the dimensions and the structure of materials and systems.
- Near-field microscopy: 3 high-resolution systems: 1 Tunnel Effect Microscope (STM) and 2 Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM).
- Microscopies and cryofracture: Optical microscopes of various characteristics, allowing multiple observations: polarized light microscopy, confocal microscopy, fluorescence microscopy ...
- Rheology and DMA: 5 rheometers and 1 dynamic mechanical analyzer to study the mechanical and flow properties of various materials under different types of stress.
- Thermal analyzes: 2 ITC systems (isothermal calorimetric titration) for measuring the heat of reaction of a solution. 2 DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) systems for the determination of phase transitions, glass transition temperature, melting and crystallization and reaction enthalpies
