Description

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 N (nucleoprotein) Antibody, clone 3C8 or 6E4-B9, hybridoma cell line

ALTERNATE NAMES

• Nucleoprotein
• Nucleocapsid protein
• NC
• N

BACKGROUND INFORMATION/DESCRIPTION

Nucleoprotein (UniProt: P0DTC9, also known as nucleocapsid protein, NC or N) is encoded by the N gene in Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). SARS-CoV-2 is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The SARS-CoV-2 particle is composed of four polypetides and a genomic RNA. The nucleoprotein N is part of the viral particle binding and protecting the encapsidated RNA genome. The nucleoprotein binds to the envelope E and membrane M capsid proteins and is involved in packaging of the genomic RNA. The nucleoprotein N also suppresses interferon signaling. Nucleoprotein N has been suggested as drug target and as diagnostic target. Clone 3C8 or 6E4-B9 both recognizes SARS-Cov-2-N but not MERS-CoV-N.

Applications

APPLICATION

Anti-SARS-CoV-2 N (nucleoprotein) Antibody, clone 3C8 or 6E4-B9, are both hybridoma cell lines producing mouse monoclonal antibody that detects the SARS-Cov-2 nucleoprotein N and is tested for use in Western Blotting, Immunofluorescence and ELISA.

KEY APPLICATIONS

Western Blotting, Immunofluorescence

APPLICATION NOTES

Immunofluorescence Analysis: A representative lot of each clone 3C8 or 6E4-B9 detected SARS-CoV-2-N in SARS-CoV-2 infected Vero E6 cells or U2OS cells stably expressing the nucleoprotein.
Western blot analysis: A representative lot detected recombinant SARS-CoV-2-N.
